ChatGPT-4 - Smarter, Safer, Bigger, and Visual - What's Not To Like?

GPT-4 Unleashed. Open AI has introduced the next iteration of its ground breaking AI, and Kevin O'Keefe (My Internet Guru) cites this PC World article this morning, that discusses the changes and improvements over 3.5. The biggest one, for me, is the ability to create documents with 25,000 words. This thing can write papers and books. Amazing. It is 80% more accurate, and obvious errors are far less likely.

So This Happened … And For Once I Had No Words

As the person who plans and emcees the Startup Alley pitch competition at ABA TECHSHOW, I was pretty sure that I knew how the 90 minutes would unfold when the event kicked off TECHSHOW in Chicago last week. But in the final moments, after the pitches were done and just as I had invited the audience to cast their votes for the winning startup, I was thrown for a loop.

ChatGPT Is In No Danger Of Exceeding My Talent For Poetry.

Future Lawyer

As many of my readers know, I write poetry in free verse, in a conversational style. People have been asking me about ChatGPT's ability to write poetry. The Open AI people obviously have not trained the bot in the arts. Here is a recent colloquy, in which ChatGPT fails to understand "no rhyming, please". This kind of sing song doggerel gives poetry a bad name: write a poem in conversational free verse with no rhyming.   "I can do that, my dear friend I'll weave some words, and let them ble

GPT Takes the Bar Exam Again; This Time It Scores Among Top 10% of Test Takers

Remember earlier this year when two legal scholars and scientists had GPT 3.5 take the multiple-choice portion of the bar exam and it failed to pass? Well, the second time’s a charm, as GPT has now passed not only the multiple-choice portion, but also the essay portion, and scored around the top 10% of test takers. Only this time, it was the just-released GPT-4 taking the exam, the latest AI model from OpenAI that the company says “exhibits human-level performance on various professi

The Iowa statute most closely resembles the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (“UCPA”), though it also shares some similarities with the approaches adopted in Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut. Florida Lawyers Need To Know This.

Taking effect tomorrow is a new tort liability statute that makes substantial changes in Florida's legal system dealing with negligence. Previously, a claim for negligence carried a four year statute of limitations. Florida now provides that negligence claims be brought within two years. For decades, Florida has been a comparative negligence state, in which a Plaintiff could collect damages based upon its jury determined percentage of fault, even if less than fifty per cent (50%).

This Was Not Your Grandparents’ ABA TECHSHOW

At ABA TECHSHOW in Chicago last week, it struck me that it is conceivable that an attendee could be the third generation within a family to have been to a TECHSHOW. After all, the conference was first held nearly four decades ago, way back in in 1987. That means that, in a multi-generational family of lawyers, an attendee this year could well have had a parent and grandparent attend in some prior year.
